Thailand partners with Tinder to facilitate matchmaking trips

The Thailand Government, in order to promote domestic tourism, is collaborating with the popular dating app Tinder, to launch a travel campaign for singles. This move comes in wake of tourism industry suffering loss of foreign arrivals due to the COVID pandemic.

Thailand tourism industry gradually started picking up pace after it rolled out the 60- and 90-day visas for international travellers. And to keep the momentum going, and save the industry from failing amid the pandemic, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), which is the official tourism body of Thailand, has now partnered with Tinder to offer travel packages to singles.
As per the reports, the Single Journeys campaign consist of nine major tourism routes— Chang Mai, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Rai, Udon Thani-Loie, Phuket, Lop Buri-Saraburi, Chumphon-Surat Thani, Ayutthaya, and Pattaya.
The said campaign was launched on December 20, with single tourists, who are seeking for a relationship, joining a river cruise trip to visit the nine holy temples by the river and having dinner on board.
Reportedly, the second trip will commence on January 9, which will be available for 50 single people. As per the offer, it will include a beach party and concert at Koh Khai, off the coast of Phuket. The third tour is scheculed for January 23, which will also accommodate up to 50 single people, and will be a one-day train trip across Pa Sak Jolasid Dam in Lopburi, Thailand's Monkey City, and enjoying dinner at the dam. Reports state that more routes will be added in the coming days, including trips to the hills of Mae Hing Son and Pattaya.
