Railways Minister Piyush Goyal took to Twitter to announce the decision. He said that considering the safety from the COVID pandemic, it is important to follow the protocols during the train journey.
The announcement to run new trains has come when the states begun the unlocking process due to the reduction in the number of new COVID cases in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
Delhi is under lockdown but some relaxations such as commencement of metro rail services with 50 per cent capacity have been allowed from June 7. The railways' announcement of new train services is due to the belief that people would start travelling as a result of the unlocking process.
