Spain Health Minister Carolina Darias insisted that Spain is now a safe destination, and added that the country is in the process of reclaiming its global leadership in tourism. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom, which is a lucrative tourism market for Spain, has not yet removed it from its list of at-risk countries. Referring to this, the Health Minister added that it is disappointing to see that British are still keeping Spain on its amber list.
Reports have it that non-vaccinated Europeans, who were allowed to enter Spain with a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours, will now be able to take a cheaper antigen test instead.
Spain’s economy is heavily dependent on tourism, and it was one of the Western economies that was worst hit by the pandemic. In such a scenario, Spain is hoping that with the arrival of tourists, it will be able to revive its economy and tourism industry.
