New York to reopen concert venues and sports arenas with limited capacity

New York will now allow indoor concert venues and sports stadiums to host live audiences, but with limited capacity. Governor Andrew Cuomo has stated that New York will now allow stadiums and arenas that are able to fit 10000 people or more to reopen with a limited capacity of 10 per cent.

This announcement comes just after a month of the state allowing nearly 7000 fans to attend a Buffalo Bills playoff game in Orchard Park.
Addressing a conference, Cuomo stated that the Buffalo Bills demonstration was an unparalleled success, and that they are going to now extend the Buffalo Bills example to any large stadium or arena. Further, it was the first time that visitors were allowed at the sporting event in New York state since Coronavirus brought everything to a halt in mid-March 2020.
sharHowever, all the venues and stadiums must follow guidelines, including getting approval from the Department of Health for opening venues and events, such as testing requirements, capacity limitations, and assigned adequate socially-distanced seating.
Reports have it that every ticketed guest will be required to submit a negative PCR COVID-19 test result that has been taken within 72 hours before the event.

Referring to reopening the venues, the Governor added that Barclays Center in Brooklyn would be the first arena to reopen on February 23 under this policy. As per the reports, Brooklyn's Barclays Center has already won approval for a basketball game that will take place between the Sacramento Kings and Brooklyn Nets.
