Mumbai all set to get ‘tree-top walkway’ at Malabar Hills

Mumbai is all set to add one more attraction to its list of top sightseeing. As per the reports, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has cleared a plan for an elevated walkway through the woods on Malabar Hill, which will enable people to enjoy an unhindered view of the sea.
Reportedly, the walkway will be a 900 m long trail, with a width of 1.5 m. Once the walkway is ready, one would be able to take a canopy walk through the woods to get an undisturbed view of the sea.

As per the reports, this project will likely be completed by the end of 2021.
Although the city has a number of skywalks, there are no elevated leisure walkways. However, the one that is coming up in Malabar Hill will be the one-of-its-kind in the city.
Referring to this, Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aditya Thackery tweeted, "A route for walkers/joggers and tourists alike with a fantastic view and surroundings, coming soon."

Reports have it that approximately INR 10 crore will be invested in the project.

According to the reports, the route will offer joggers, walkers, and tourists magnificent views of the sea and surrounding areas. The viewing deck will feature a glass base, whereas the walkway will be enhanced with a steel body.

The construction and installation of this one-of-a-kind walkway will start in October, which will be similar to the ‘treetop walk’ at the MacRitchie Reservoir in Singapore, which takes visitors 25 m above the ground on a free-standing suspension bridge.
