Seems like New York City is recovering well after COVID-19. The US state is all set to host a huge flower show, based on European-style flower displays like London's famous RHS Chelsea Flower Show. According to the New York Times, NYC’s first ever flower show, called the L.E.A.F. Festival of Flowers, will be held on June 12 and 13. Read less
The plan is to decorate 25 pillars with flowers and the centerpiece will be at Gansevoort Plaza, which is a pedestrian-only square. To make things effective, the organisation will be working with nearly 100 florists for installations of flowers throughout the district. So this weekend, more than 100 florists will cover the Meatpacking District with one million flowers!
One of the prime highlights of this flower show will be a large floral installation for Pride Month by East Olivia at Double Rainbow by Aerie. Other highlights include a floral bike and cart by Renny and Reed at Hermès, and FDK Florals display at the Whitney Museum of American Art, among others.
The star flowers at the show will be roses, lilies, anthurium, amaranthus, eremurus, and orchids to name a few. This flower show is a great opportunity for florists in NYC, whose businesses suffered because of the pandemic.
Now that the city is reopening, a number of events have been planned to celebrate the win over COVID-19 and coming back to normalcy. Almost all the public parks and gardens have also reopened in NYC, making the citizens happy.
