The Uttarakhand government has appointed Indian Idol 12 winner Pawandeep Rajan as the brand ambassador of Uttarakhand’s art, culture and tourism. The 23-year-old national singing sensation belongs to Champawat in Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. He won the singing reality show on August 15; and the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, honoured him with the prestigious position in Dehradun on August 25. Read less

Champawat is a beautiful hill town in Uttarakhand. It has also served as the former capital of the Kumaon Kingdom. With history dating back to the 11th century, Champawat is a heritage destination and is home to several temples belonging to the Chand dynasty.
