Surgeons’ Hall Museums

The Surgeons Hall Museums consists of three different museums, all unique in their own way. First is The Wohl Pathology Museum that is located on the upper floor of the Playfair building and boasts of one of the largest collections of pathological anatomy in the whole world. Visitors here get to learn about women in surgery, military surgery, and the originals of medical collections and can even have a look at human remains. The History of Surgery Museum, on the other hand, opens visitors’ eyes to the world of surgical advances and key figures in Scotland’s surgical world. Visitors can view some of the oldest specimens in the museums collection; learn about forensics and even get a chance to play at the interactive dissection table. The Dental Collection Museum is the third one and happens to be one of the finest in all of the UK. Visitors will learn about the earliest forms of dentistry and it is only the rare of artifacts that can be seen here. A recreation of a 19th century dentist office is also at hand here and visitors can see what instruments were used back then compared to what are used now. Admission is £6 per adult and it is not recommended for kids under the age of 10 years.
