Periyar National Park is the first national park in India, which introduced bamboo rafting in the Periyar Lake. This is one of the most unique ways of seeing the jungle at close quarters, as it involves stopping at the edge and walking into the jungle for breakfast, lunch and tea. Periyar National Park is the first national park in India, which introduced bamboo rafting in the Periyar Lake. This is one of the most unique ways of seeing the jungle at close quarters, as it involves stopping at the edge and walking into the jungle for breakfast, lunch and tea. There are three raft rides in the day, with not more than 5 people in a single ride. The troupe stays on the raft from morning to evening, and when everyone arrives in the evening, armed guards accompany the tourists back to the gate of the forest. Spend the rest of the day floating on the tranquil water of the lake, which reflects the trees of the periphery. The trip is rather slow, but also one of the most unique ways of seeing the park. You can also club the bamboo rafting with a hike in the forest. You are most likely to see elephants drinking water at the edge of the lake, as you can steer towards the loneliest spots that cannot be reached by the large ferry that tours around the central area. Of all the ways of experiencing the Periyar National Park, bamboo rafting is the most scenic and private of the lot.
