For those who love to shop, no trip to Bangkok would be complete without a spin around OP Place. Located just behind the beautiful Oriental Hotel, the upscale Oriental Plaza houses numerous antique shops and galleries—all in one convenient spot. Browsing through the many vintage items and antiquities is a treat for the eyes. Keep in mind that the ones unfamiliar with antique pricing might find themselves at a slight disadvantage as it can be difficult to tell whether something is priced fairly.
But no matter what your level of experience is, it’s worth a look around to see the variety of fascinating objects on display here. From paintings and sculptures to jewellery and clothing, OP Place offers shoppers more sophisticated fare than the average mall or market. In particular, the Ashwood Gallery, on the third floor, is a great place to look around. In addition to Thai art, the gallery also has heritage pieces from both China and Myanmar to please any art lover. Whether you’re in the market for a traditional elephant carving, stately painting, or some sparkling vintage gems, it’s worth taking the time to fully explore all that the OP Place has to offer.
