Now, get tatkal passport in just 1 day and general passport in 11 days

Applying for a passport in India has just become easier now. According to the news reports, Indian nationals can now get a regular passport in just 11 days, and a tatkal passport in just one day. The announcement was made by the Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan.
The minister told the press that the central government has launched an app in 731 districts for applicant verification by police. This initiative is meant to check corruption and delay in getting passports. As of now, there are 36 passport offices, 412 post office passport seva centres and 93 passport seva centres in India.


The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also released a warning about fake websites pretending to be official passport application websites and apps that cheat gullible applications by gathering their sensitive personal data.

The fake passport websites achieve their purpose by charging a heavy fee for online application and scheduling appointment for passport related services. These fraudulent websites are registered in the domain name .com, .org and .in. Some of these fake websites are www.online-passportindia.com, www.indiapassport.org, www.passport-india.in, www.passportindiaportal.in, www.passport-seva.in and www.applypassport.org.

The only reliable and true official website to be visited for online application of passport and other related services is www.passportindia.gov.in. Alternatively, applicants can download the official mPassport Seva app on their iOS and Android phone.
