This unique attraction is found only in Edmonton and is the result of one man’s vision to turn junk into an attraction. David Holdsworth is the man behind this impressive museum, convincing the city that instead of throwing away these neon signs that were once part of Edmonton, they should restore them and hang them up for both locals and visitors to see. Neon signs are a dying commodity as the fuel used to make them is expensive and the artists who once designed them are hard to find, especially considering that these signs are made of hand-blown glass tubes. Moreover, this museum is one of the only places in Canada to see such a collection. The best part of this museum may be its price of admission—free! It is located outside, along 104th street, one of the recently revamped streets in Edmonton. The wall where the signs are displayed has space for a total of about 30 neon signs and there are currently 12 hanging up, some original and some refurbished. These brightly coloured signs, most of them in shades of pink, yellow and red, are turned on as soon as the sun sets. Visitors can even read all the information about each neon sign on the accompanied plaque. They can either grab a pint at one of the pubs across the street or simply just walk along while admiring these handcrafted neon signs.
