For 30 years, this festival has been running in Calgary and is only getting bigger and better. Plan a visit to the city in May to experience the awesome Calgary International Children's Festival, where shows, activities, and events take place both inside and out. Shows are offered in both English and French languages, thereby catering to a large audience. Past and present performers include Fred Penner, Zoo Dance, and Sand Northrup—the one woman circus. Tickets for the shows are around $17, while all outdoor activities are free. These free activities include games, face-painting, crafts and concerts. The goal of this festival is to truly enhance the imagination of children and to introduce them to arts, live theatre, and music. About 60,000 people attend this largest children's show in Calgary each year, including parents with young ones and teachers with their classes. The location is central, making it easy for people to get here by car, train or bus, and it's certainly worth attending with kids.
