Given the rapidly soaring price of gold, the day doesn’t seem far when the precious metal would be only found/seen in museums! It was perhaps similar thoughts that led to this Frankfurt museum, a spectacular gold museum called Goldkammer, which looks straight out of a queen’s dreams. The whole museum is a piece of art and an ode to the precious metal.
The gold tour takes nearly an hour; during this period, people are informed about the history of gold. The visitors get to know how gold is made, its history and what makes it so costly. The tour takes visitors into cavernous vaults, where a wide variety of gold artefacts are showcased. All the exhibits are well-explained by texts on walls. Not only this, numerous animations, videos and digital boards are there too to explain visitors.
The story of gold
It is believed that about four billion years ago, a meteor shower brought death and destruction across the planet and along with it came gold. If the theory is to be believed, gold was actually showered on the Earth. This interesting information is also provided in the new Frankfurter Museum Goldkammer.
Gold shopping
Well, if you are here just for knowledge and for the admiration of gold, you can skip this part. Those with heavy wallets can also buy gold jewellery from the shop inside the museum.
