Delhi Metro permits passengers to use the Common Mobility Card for metro service and feeder buses

In a new development, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) launched welcome extensions and services for the Common Mobility Card for metro, feeder buses, and also for parking at some stations. The Delhi metro has more than 200 feeder buses that cover 40 routes. According to a DMRC official statement, the new services for the common mobility card is introduced in order to “line with the objective of ensuring last mile connectivity.”

Currently, the Common Mobility Card can be used is available at 13 metro stations, namely Vishwavidyalaya, Saket, Karkardooma, Dilshad Garden, Akshardham, Patel Chowk, Kashmere Gate, Rohini Sector (18, 19), Shastri Park, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Old Faridabad, and Sector 28. Later this year, it could also be used for parking lots.

An official of DMRC said, “The new software will simplify the ticketing process in the feeder buses and will also save time in the ticketing transaction. The fare of feeder buses is between INR 5 and INR 15.”
The new service looks to help more than two lakh people, who are currently using the metro feeder bus service. The card was launched on January 8 this year and is already accepted by over 250 DTC buses; the recent developments are an add-on to its services, and is aimed to boost usage of public transport as well as ease and promote parking at the metro station parking lots.
