Central Market Hall

It’s hard to miss this covered market in the centre of Sofia. It was built in 1911 and remains an important trading site in the city till this date. The Central Market Hall also known as Tsentralni Hali used to be full of stalls selling local produce and seasonal goods.
However, it was refurbished in 2000 and now comprises of three storeys of shops selling clothes, groceries, jewellery, trinkets, fast food and other such items. While there is nothing extraordinary about the shops, there is a budget-friendly food court that sells a variety of local delicacies. It’s also a perfect place to pick up different kinds of cheese, cold cuts and breads if you’re in the mood for a picnic.

Even if you’re not in a mood to shop, do walk by Central Market Hall to admire its unique façade with elements of Neo Baroque and Neo Renaissance architecture.
