What could possibly be better than sailing on pristine blue waters, the cool wind gently caressing your face and the mighty mountains acting like a canopy, protecting you from the Sun. Lakes Thun and Brienz in Interlaken provide what could perhaps be some of the best cruising opportunities in Switzerland. Get ready to be captivated by imposing castles and prepare yourself to fall in love with quaint fishing villages, all of which you will find along your way. The lakes seem to exude this rejuvenating aura and this cruise is therefore perfect for those looking to unwind in the warm embrace of nature. This pleasurable trip is around two hours long and the boats have clearly been demarcated into first- and second-class sections. A small restaurant can also be found on board. Tickets for this day excursion can be bought from the many desks around the boat docks, just outside the Interlaken Ost railway station. Swiss Pass owners can enjoy the cruise for free whereas Eurail Pass holders will receive a whopping 50 percent discount. Check the weather in advance before booking a seat as the rains might dampen your experience. Do keep in mind that the cruising season starts from April to December with May, June and October being the most popular months. Luxury dinner cruises are also available, usually along lake Brienz, and require prior reservations.
