Yogesh Kamra, who is the co-convener of FlyAmritsar Initiative and Additional Secretary of Amritsar Vikas Manch (AVM), referring to this development, said that the Tourism Ministry and the government intends to enhance point-to-point air connectivity of tourism destinations in the country, and certain routes have been identified to incentivise airlines and commence operations on such routes under UDAN phase III of Regional Connectivity Scheme.
He further added that not only these new cities will even exchange tourists between the cities, these new fights will also open up opportunities for trading and businesses. It is also expected that this move will prove to be boost international connectivity to these cities as their visitors will get the liberty to board and connect to international flights via Amritsar to Birmingham, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Dubai, Doha, Tashkent and Ashgabat.
