Mysore is a city that is so rich in heritage and culture, that it’s often difficult to imagine anything beyond the magnificent palace, heritage buildings, royal structures and regal atmosphere. But there is so much more to do than just exploring these old forts, temples and palaces. Once the beaten path is done, there is a lot to discover and the beauty of the city is that for the intrepid traveller, there’s no need to really follow a set route. And there’s something for every kind of soul here, be it the retiring variety or adrenaline-junkies. From watching a silk saree being woven to seeing how sandalwood oil is extracted, from taking a yoga class to counting the different varieties of butterflies in a corner of Karanji lake park, from watching horses racing to teeing off on royal grounds, from doing a heritage or food walk to getting wet and high in an amusement park, from riding a tonga to watching the city’s fairly tale light comes on in the evening, there are myriad offbeat and fun things to do in Mysore.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
