The Hidden Vine gets included in the list thanks to its outdoor bocce court. The super cosy wine bar, with comfy arm chairs and a lovely fireplace, has an extensive wine list with many surprising finds for the wine connoisseur. Since its opening in 2005, the bar has built a strong reputation amongst wine lovers in the bay area. There are more than 180 wines on the wine list, with 40 wines available by the glass, and a rotating monthly focus on a different wine region from around the world. The staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable, so don’t feel bad about asking for recommendations! The warm interior invites you to sit down and indulge in a glass of wine and relax. The bar has a row of seats where guests can watch the bar staff preparing drinks and snack on cheese and charcuterie platters ($8 each cheese or meat), or a freshly toasted flatbread ($14). After your meal, don’t forget to sample their dessert wine or step things up with a flight of a variety of wines so you can try a little of everything.
Drink to try: A special featured wine from this month’s region of choice.
Address: 408 Merchant St, San Francisco
