Just Falafel

A global take on an Arabic stalwart
Popular plate: The Italian falafel is perhaps the wildest as it comes topped with pesto and mozzarella. Thankfully, the two cultures make for a happy marriage.

This relatively new fast-food chain has taken the Middle East by storm with its rebellious take on what is perhaps the region’s signature dish: the falafel. As you can guess by the brand’s name, falafel is pretty much the only thing on the menu, aside from fries and various soft drinks.
The twist, however, is in the presentation. Customers can opt for a traditional Lebanese falafel, or can gamble on fusion versions. The Indian falafel, for instance, is covered in curry sauce, while the Japanese variant gets a lashing of wasabi. As the lines out the door will attest, the combinations work.
