Darikhana at Jag Mandir

Don’t go merely by its name that bears Mandir (temple), as this tourist hub has got a lot on offer. To reach this location, there are boats that ferry travellers from City Palace to Jag Mandir with an all-inclusive trip of the entire Lake Pichola. Once you reach the spot, you would notice lush green lawns, restaurants, crisp and clean décor but there will be no temple in sight. Constructed on one of the natural islands, Jag Mandir’s Darikhana offers a variety of seating options right from indoors to outdoors and both alcohol and food are served in both areas. The food served is limited but the restaurant is known for its wide selection of alcohol. The restaurant overlooks the City Palace and the Karni Mata Temple, offering a serene and calm experience, where you can be one with nature.
Apart from the restaurant, the Jag Mandir has a long history that dates back to the pre-independence era. Jag Mandir is a work of art that was constructed over a period of time by three kings, namely Maharana Amar Singh, Maharana Karan Singh and Maharana Jagat Singh I. This structure was initially used by the royal family as a summer resort and pleasure palace for guests and dignitaries, but later turned out to be a good hiding spot for rebels and refugees. In the present day however, Darikhana is a safe and comfortable haven for tourists who just want to kick back their shoes and relax.
