Chennai Rail Museum welcomes you to Chennai Express restaurant

Chennai’s rail museum recently witnessed the opening of a new rail coach-themed restaurant. Visitors to the museum will now be able to enjoy a variety of scrumptious cuisines on the premise of the museum itself.
As per a press release, this special train coach-themed restaurant is the second such restaurant opened by the Indian Railways; the first being opened in Bhopal in 2015.

Interestingly, the air-conditioned rail coach restaurant has been named ‘Chennai Express’. This special coach has been built inside a Linke Hoffman Busch (LBH) train provided Integral Coach factory (ICF). Also, it has been designed in a manner that it infuses an ambience that matches your typical railway station.
The specialised restaurant has been constructed in a record time of three months. The cuisines that the visitors will be relishing here are North Indian, Chinese, Continental and South Indian. Further, the menu will thrill the food lovers with dishes that are famous for being traditionally served onboard popular trains of Indian Railways.
The interiors of this specialised coach-themed restaurant will feature light fittings, enhanced with antique flavour, while the exterior features modern art by artist Asma Menon and her team. The cafeteria, which includes the railway station, is enabled with a seating capacity of 64 people. It is expected that this extended profile of the coach restaurant will be an added attraction for the visitors to the rail museum.

Initial reports state that that this train coach-themed restaurant will be functional six days a week, from 11 AM to 10 PM.
