Most visitors automatically flock to the gorgeous beaches of Croatia when they visit the country. As a result, its historical cities seem to get ignored. Zagreb is one such gem. The quaint city has dozens of museums, galleries and historical monuments. And it’s easy to spend a weekend exploring its wonders. The city is divided into 3 distinct parts. Gornji Grad, The Upper Town, is home to historical marvels such as the Parliament, the Presidential Palace and St. Mark’s Church. Expect to find cobble-street alleys laden with charm in this part of the city. Donji Grad, the Lower Town has cafes, bookstores and restaurants. New Zagreb is the modern part of town, which resembles any other metropolis. Expect to find lots of high-rises and shops here. If you have just one day, we would suggest spending it in the enchanted Gornji Grad—explore a few monuments, click lots of photographs, have lunch as you watch people go by doing their business on cobbled streets, and finally unwind by having a few drinks at a typical Croatian bar in the evening.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
