Korcula is an island located about 149 km from Dubrovnik. You can reach the island by ferry, bus or car. Catamaran ferry Krilo shuttles to and fro and takes 1 hour 50 min per trip. Korcula is easily one of the greenest islands in the Adriatic Sea and the sixth largest island in all of Croatia. It is nearly 20 mi long and is about four to five mi in width. It is known for its thick, dark and dense forests and also for its vineyards. Korcula town is fondly called Little Dubrovnik, perhaps because of its churches, medieval squares, houses and palaces. Its terracotta-roofed buildings bring the city of Dubrovnik to mind. Marco Polo, the famous world-traveller and writer, was born in Korcula. The house where he was born still stands in the Old Town of Korcula. This island also has a long cultural tradition, which is reflected in museums, galleries and festivals. We love the sword dance Moreska, which is performed only in Korcula these days. Visit Korcula for its virgin beaches and family-run seafood restaurants lining the cobbled alleyways.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
