All you have to do is drive 10 mi. beyond the Sin City walls and you’ll witness one of Nevada’s most unique and unknown sights, i.e., the Seven Magic Mountains.
Touring crayon-coloured boulders in the middle of the desert will seem to be whimsical, and evoke a sense of spirituality at the same time. It was built as a public art exhibit by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone, the 30-ft fluorescent ‘totems’ stand like brightly coloured beacons that light up the desert sky. The artist used locally sourced boulders, and opted this location as it’s symbolically and physically mid-way between the natural and the artificial landscape. Visible across the desert landscape, the Seven Magic Mountains gives a creative and unique touch to a destination like Las Vegas. If you want to go offbeat, a drive to this place will be perfect.
The Seven Magic Mountains is supposedly one of the world’s largest land-based art installations that has been put up in decades. Reportedly, the installations were slated to be taken down in 2018, but seeing its popularity among the visitors, it has been decided that these will be adorning the desert landscape till 2021.
