Here is a fascinating fact for you. The Navapur Railway Station is located on the Maharashtra-Gujarat border, making it a unique experience for travellers. Because you can go from one state to another just by casually walking on the platform. The border line cuts through the Navapur Railway Station, particularly through a bench. On one side of the bench you will find it says, Maharashtra, while on the other side it says Guajarat.
Interestingly, this also means that state laws apply on either side of the bench. So on the Gujarat side, the possession of liquor is illegal. On the other hand, paan masala, and gutka is banned on the Maharashtra side!
Recently, the picture of this railway station went viral on social media, as twitter exploded with pictures, and funny takes on the railway station. It is definitely a rare occurrence, and travellers would be lucky to come here and feel the experience of being in two places at one time.
The Navapur Railway Station’s ticket counter, and police station are located in the Nandurbar district of Maharashtra. On the other hand, the waiting room, toilets, and the station master’s office are on the Gujarat side, in Tapi district.
