The Sewri seashore in Mumbai has been a point of interest for bird-watchers since long. This particular area has been the place where migratory flamingos can be seen, feeding in the mudflats of Thane Creek. Unfortunately, this particular spot is going to be closed as work on Mumbai-Trans Harbour Link begins. In fact, you cannot spot the flamingos any time soon, because the work is supposedly going to take seven long years!

The site looks inaccessible for now, as a lot of mangrove trees have been cut down, and a gate has been constructed. The flamingos that have come here are reportedly moving away from the site.
Expressing regret, many environmentalists, bird specialists, wildlife photographers among others have said that the project is a disaster as far as biodiversity is concerned. The flamingo habitat could possibly be in danger with the starting of the construction, and the cutting down of trees.
