Resting on the shores of Lake Thun, Spiez is essentially all about magnificent castles and endless vineyards. The mighty Alps in the background only magnify its attractiveness while the winds are perpetually cool and crisp. Walk along its massive boulevards, go golfing on its sprawling courses, sail on the pristine waters of the lake and sip on multiple glasses of wine; Spiez is synonymous with the good life. If you are more of the adventurous kind, you can go bungee jumping, parasailing or even river-rafting for that matter. Museums, concert halls and historical castle tours also abound in plenty for all the culture enthusiasts. The Spiez Castle is a major attraction of this pretty place along with some of the best fish you can sample in Switzerland. The local Spiezer wine is also worth laying your hands on. With a small population of around 12,000, Spiez has a decent network of public transport unlike the mountain villages in the region. There truly is a little bit of something for everyone in this perfect Bernese Oberland town.
