Snake Farm

While there are many tourist-centric snake farms throughout Asia and Thailand specifically, this one stands out for its strong educational approach. Located at the Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute (QSMI) as part of the Thai Red Cross Institute, the Snake Farm studies these fascinating animals for research related to vaccines and other medical purposes. In addition to touring the farm’s vast variety of snake displays, visitors can’t miss the daily snake-handling demonstrations. We highly recommend planning your visit around these, which occur at 2:30pm on weekdays and 11am on weekends.

During the live demonstrations, a professional snake handler shows the audience different types of snakes, and explains more about these creatures. A huge variety of snakes are featured, ranging greatly in size and colour. For many tourists, it will be their first and possibly only glance at these exotic species in person. Most of all, you’ll develop a greater appreciation for snakes in general, as you learn about their helpful nature.
