If you want a quick weekend getaway consider heading to the seaside town of North Berwick, located in East Lothian just an hour drive away from Edinburgh or a 30 min train ride. Golf enthusiasts flock here during the warmer weathers to play rounds of golf at the world renowned North Berwick or Glen golf courses. If you aren’t a golfer, there is still plenty of things to see and do here. Wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy the 5-star Scottish Seabird Centre as well as the world’s largest gannet colony that calls this place home. There are plenty of unique shops and boutiques located throughout the town as well as restaurants and classic fish and chip shops. Summer is the best time to head here as you can take boat rides around the local islands and marvel at the floral displays and gardens that have won this town multiple awards. North Berwick is also home to many festivals including the Puffin Fest, Fringe by the Sea and the ever-popular Highland Games.
