Where romance comes true – you can always trust Greece to be high on charm, and it does not get any more charming than this stunning seaport town. Nafplio lures travellers from across the world, inviting them to be a part of its magnificence. The famous Greek mythology suggests that the town was founded by the son of Poseidon, and the daughter of Danaus. It is just two hours away from Athens, thus making it quite an apt destination for your weekend getaway. The elegance of its Venetian houses, street cafes, dreamlike streets, come together with the Argolic Gulf, and strike a picture of perfection. The town is humbled with age, and stands gracefully today with marks of history on its body. Nofplio was ruled by the Romans, the Byzantine Empire, Venetians, and Ottoman Turks. A classic attraction of this place is the Palamidi Castle, which is located on a hilltop, and also the Syntagma Square at the centre of the town. Needless to say, every photograph coming out from its environs is stunning.
