Popularly known as ‘Dhyan Kutia’ (meditation hut), it was rechristened as Modi Cave after PM Modi recently meditated there for nearly 17 hours. His photos of meditating inside the cave went viral, thereby leading to a large number enquiring about booking in the said cave.
The cave was developed by the GMVN, which is a government enterprise that promotes tourism in the state. Sitting at a height of over 12000 ft in the hills around the Kedarnath shrine, the cave comprises of a small area that has an attached bathroom and a window overlooking the temple.
Earlier, for a day in the cave, one had to shell out INR 3000; the tariff has now been lowered to INR 990.
