If you’re not a big fan of planning entire holidays around beaches, then an urban beach such as the Miraflores Beach is perfect for you. This beach is located right in the middle of Lima’s bustling Miraflores district and is one of the most commercialised beaches in Peru. Quite predictably, the Miraflores Beach is surrounded by malls and skyscrapers on all sides. However, this doesn’t stop it from being a great beach by itself. The wide stretch of sand is dotted with rocky crags but the beach is ideal for a relaxing day out in Lima. However, sunny days aren’t assured as Lima is infamous for its grey skies. You can lie down on a beach towel and read a book at the Miraflores Beach. Alternatively, you can indulge in a variety of water sports such as parasailing. The Miraflores Beach is also extremely popular with surfers. Once you are suitably beached out, head over to one of the neighbouring shopping centres for a spot of lunch and a drink or two. We love Larcomar Shopping Centre—it’s home to a variety of restaurants including Peruvian gems and a few international chains such as TGIF.
