This beach has a colourful history. Cabo Blanco is the name of a tiny fishing village in Peru. The beach is famous because it used to be a hub for big-game fishing in the fifties and sixties. Sources allege that this is what attracted Ernest Hemingway to come and spend a sizeable amount of time in Cabo Blanco. Today, it is famous amongst surfers all over the world for its beach, which boasts of some of the craziest waves for surfing. At this point, we should point out that surfing at Cabo Blanco Beach is not appropriate for beginners. It can be dangerous negotiating those waves if you do not have prior experience. The village is small and has a few choices of lodging—you cannot afford to be selective here as most of the lodging is basic and doesn’t offer luxurious facilities of any kind. However, this doesn’t stop surfing enthusiasts from descending to Cabo Blanco Beach in hordes.
