All things glamorous start here in Los Angeles, and so it is safe to say that the art scene here is every bit fascinating. At the centre of the art scene lies one of the most important buildings, the LA Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA). The museum attracts numerous travellers every month; even more now, as entry is set to be free of charge.
About the museum
The Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Arts has three branches in the city, and exhibits American and European contemporary arts that were created after 1940. It was established in 1979 and has an incredible collection of modern art by artists such as Jeff Wall, Barbara Kruger, Takashi Murakami, among others.
The MOCA Grand Avenue is located in South Grand Avenue; The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA is located at North Central Avenue, while Double Negative is in the Nevada desert.
In 2018, MOCA had 284160 visitors, and while the aim is to attract new visitors, the museum is not really looking to increase the number of visitors. What they are truly looking to do is to get new people to visit the museum, who could not visit previously. The date of commencement for free entry is yet to be decided by the museum authorities.
