The flight also faces challenges in regards to filling it up with passengers, as the places that have been proposed by Boeing Co. and Airbus SE for this flight would not be able to carry the total number of passengers for this long. Also, pilots need to agree to work longer hours to make the longest commercial flight a possibility.
Called Project Sunrise, the airline is planning to carry more than 300 passengers from Sydney to London. A whopping 17000 km long flight will take close to 21 hours.
Currently, the record for the longest flight is claimed by Singapore Airlines that operated a flight between Singapore and New York on October 11, 2018. It arrived at the Newark Liberty International Airport the next day after 17 hours and 52 minutes of flying. Singapore Airlines completed this incredible feat with Airbus A350-900ULR and is currently still running every week.
