Komodo and Rinca Islands

No visit to Indonesia is complete if you have not visited the Komodo and Rinca Islands to see the mammoth dragons. Sighting these large lizard like dragons, one of the largest species in the world, is an experience in itself. Komodo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is spread over the islands of Komodo, Rinca and Padar and several other smaller ones. It is safe to walk in the national park only with rangers as the dragons can attack humans as well. They prey on monkeys and deer which are seen in plenty on the islands. Moreover, the landscape is equally breathtaking—either beaches or rainforests or savannah grasslands greet you. Go island hopping or walk around looking for these dragons in the wild. Words of caution though, never walk alone!
