Kerala Tourism will be hosting Muziris Backwater Paddle in Jan, 2020

If you are planning for a trip during New Year and want to explore something new, sign up for the Muziris Backwater Paddle, which will be held in Kerala on January 4 and 5 on 2020. This two-day kayaking expedition will provide you the chance to explore the backwaters of Kerala like never before. The expedition will be flagged off from Kotturpuram Jetty in Kodungallor district and culminate at Bolgatty Island in Kochi.

Paddlers will be covering an overall distance of 40 km traversing through the backwaters and prominent Muziris Heritage destinations en route. As per the latest reports, each day the paddlers will cover an easy distance of around 20 km, and take several fun breaks for sightseeing and to meet the locals. The starting point, i.e., Muziris, was once a bustling seaport and the heart of historic spice route, which was used to be the key trade point between southern India and the rest of the world. The region is blessed with numerous monuments of the bygone era that is more than 3000 years old.

The paddling event will also promote how to use our rivers for recreational usage and also create a connection to the river with tourists and youngsters.
Founder of Jellyfish Watersports Kaushiq Kodithodi said that it’s a great idea to combine water sports with conservation. Further, Muziris backwater paddle will be promoting water sports activities, such as kayaking, sailing, and canoeing, by bringing together people from all walks of life and ages, he added. The event is being targeted to attract both domestic and international tourists, senior citizens, paddling enthusiasts, children, people from all walks of life, and even non-swimmers, he stated.
