Jurmala

Jurmala is the largest resort town in the Baltics, and its main attraction is the lovely beach, bordered by pine trees and covered in fine white sand. The destination is also known for its distinct style of architecture, cottage-style wooden structures with gingerbread accents. It is a ‘pleasure town’ and hence, you’ll find plenty of people looking for fun here. That also means many beachcombers as well as a number of international restaurants and recreational areas.

From spas and saunas to shops and ice rinks, it offers all kinds of distractions for tourists looking to blow off some steam. While holidaying here, do visit Dzintari Concert Hall, a popular concert venue where you can catch a great show or two. The Horn’s Garden was the venue of the first movie show in Jurmala. For some history, check out the Marienbad Sanatorium, an abandoned building built in 1870. Jurmala is also known for its spas and water park—Livu Akvaparks. Jomas iela is a great street to explore, especially for shopaholics as it’s full of boutiques and shops.
