Exploring the zones
The Jhirna zone remains open throughout the year, allowing uninterrupted access to this natural wonderland. However, key areas like Dhikala and Bijrani have specific operational seasons due to monsoonal damage. Dhikala, the central entry point, welcomes visitors from November 15th, while the Bijrani zone opens mid-October. Seasonal highlights
The best time to visit Jim Corbett depends on your preferences for weather and wildlife sightings:Winter (October to February): The winter months are ideal for spotting tigers and engaging in birdwatching. With temperatures ranging from 5°C to 25°C, the season provides a comfortable climate for safaris. The less dense vegetation enhances visibility, increasing the chances of encountering wildlife like elephants, leopards, sambhar, and over 600 bird species, including the great pied hornbill and orange-breasted green pigeon.
Summer (March to June): As water sources dwindle, wildlife concentrates around waterholes, offering excellent opportunities for animal spotting. This is the best time to observe animals in their natural habitats, although the heat can be intense, with temperatures often exceeding 40°C.
Monsoon (July to September): While heavy rains limit access to some zones, the Jhirna and buffer zones remain open. The park comes alive with lush greenery, making it an ideal time for peaceful treks and exploring the region’s diverse plant life.
