The railways have plans to launch this service back in January 2017 in order to boost non-fare revenue. At that time, the idea was dumped due to the cold response. During that attempt, the Indian Railways has planned to offer movies, soaps, and music for 1300 premium trains. The idea was to offer pre-loaded content on smartphones, laptops, tablets, and other devices of passengers, for a fee.
Now, once again, the railways is back with the idea and is working towards offering paid entertainment onboard to passengers.
