Galata Bridge

Connecting the old city with the new, Galata Bridge is yet another of Istanbul’s prestigious historic structures. Over the centuries, numerous bridges have come and gone as technology and materials have improved, however the symbolic importance of the bridge has never faltered.
The modern bridge has pedestrian walkways along either side the upper deck (popular with local fishermen); however the lower deck is where all the action is. This pedestrian level is packed, full of restaurants, cafes, and bars. Seafood is the featured course here, obviously, and although the food is nothing special, the view certainly is. Sunset from the western side is gorgeous!

Expert Advice: Avoid the restaurants on the southern end of the bridge. They are all tourist traps, serving identical (and relatively mediocre) food at inflated prices. Those on a budget should consider opting for some of the floating food stalls near the bridge. An added bonus is that they are also a perfect spot at dusk to watch the daylight fade.
