Flight operations in India likely to start by May 17

Now that the Indian Railways has declared that it would resume passenger train services in a phased manner from May 12, the government of India is looking forward to restart flight operations from May 17 in a systematic way.

According to the news reports, a joint team comprising the DGCA, Airports Authority of India, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security Office Delhi International Airport Limited and CISF under the Ministry of Civil Aviation came to the Delhi airport to examine the level of preparedness before resuming flight operations.
It will be mandatory for all passengers to download the Aarogya Setu app. In addition, passengers will have to undergo screening at departure and also wear mouth covers at the airport. Boarding will be allowed to asymptomatic passengers only.

Union Minister of Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri had made an announcement regarding re-starting domestic flight operations in India within a week. The minister also told a magazine that flight services can also start by May 15 if everything falls in plan as per the plans.
Being a highly vulnerable sector, the aviation industry in India is one of the worst affected. Many flight attendants have been asked to go on leave without pay.
