Godinho Mansion—Carpe Diem Art and Learning Centre

Majorda, popular as a beach village northwest of Margao, offers yet another stunning example of an era gone by—the Godinho Mansion. Built in the mid-18th century, this 300 years old property rests on a raised platform with a small staircase at its entrance. You will find a small and elegantly done chapel dedicated to St. Anne right by its entrance. Today, this mansion plays a significant role in supporting the cultural activities in Goa.
A part of this massive building is now converted into an art gallery. Thoughtfully named Carpe Diem, a Latin quote that means to make the most of the present moment, the gallery’s ambiance would make you ponder over that long lost hobby or something that you have been meaning to do form long. It would literally urge you to seize the day. Pure inspiration! You can also stretch your legs at the attached cafe in the backyard and forget about going home. Brainchild of a young entrepreneur and an artist himself, Daegal Godinho, Carpe Diem is gaining popularity not just as a site for exhibitions or book-reading events, but also for people to pursue activities such as yoga or lessons in music, theater or dance.
