Uttarakhand is under a cold spell due to rain and snowfall for the last three days. According to the news reports, even the Char Dham sites featuring Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri and Gangotri have experienced snowfall. On the other hand, Auli, which is known for its natural beauty, has had its share of snowfall.
The changed weather has suddenly brought all areas of Uttarakhand under a cold wave. Meanwhile, it has been raining ceaselessly in Dehradun, the capital city of Uttarakhand. Also, the Gangotri highway is blocked due to a thick blanket of snow enveloping the region. The locals are keeping themselves warm by lighting up bonfires these days. In addition, Hemkund Sahib, one of the most prominent pilgrimage sites of the Sikhs, is also covered with snow.
Reportedly, the Meteorological Department has issued a snowfall alert in four districts of Uttarakhand. Also, five districts of the state may experience hailstorm.
As per the news reports, the director of the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy snowfall in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts. There is also a possibility of hail in Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Tehri and Pauri districts.
