The Chernobyl tragedy is still a very important topic for many. With more and more visitors slowly taking up the Chernobyl tour, there is a new development. According to reports, you can now visit the control room of Chernobyl’s Reactor 4. The reactor is however still highly radioactive, with some sources suggesting that it is 40000 higher than normal. So, those interested in taking a tour of Reactor 4, you are required to wear protective gear, and will only be allowed for five minutes.
It is believed that it was here in Reactor 4, where the Chief Engineer had instructed operators to continue the safety test even after there was a huge drop in power. This control room was largely damaged from the explosion, and it was from here that the reactor was operated. Much of Chernobyl is still not open for the public.
The Chernobyl tragedy took place on April 26, 1986.
