You can now visit Egypt’s Bent Pyramid, which was built for pharaoh Sneferu. Officials recently opened its doors to tourists, making the 101 m structure accessible to all those who are fascinated by pyramids. It is located south of Cairo in a place called Dahshur.
The pyramid’s first 49 m are built at a 54-degree steep angle, and then it tapers off in the top. The experts are, however, not sure as to exactly where was Sneferu buried, but the general consensus is that he was probably buried here at the Bent pyramid.
Dahshur has been off late in the radar of Egyptian authorities to be promoted as a tourist spot; what is noteworthy here is that the pyramid is actually located in the middle of nowhere, which attracts very few tourists. Archaeologists presented late-period mummies, tools, coffins, masks, and more during the opening of the pyramids. These items were discovered last year during excavations near Dahshur pyramids.
