Reports suggest that this festival is being hosted in a move to tap the tourism potential of Bhairabkunda, which is a scenic tri-junction located in the foothills of Himalayas, adjoining Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Bhutan. Located around 22 km away from the district headquarters of Udalguri town, this spot is also one of the most important places for pilgrims. Every year, tons of devotees throng the Shiva temple to offer their prayers.
As per the members of the celebration committee, Bhairabkunda Festival would be reflecting the age-old bond of unity and integrity among the diverse ethnic and linguistic groups, also including those of the neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan. The festival will also feature cultural exchange programs among Arunachal Pradesh, Bhutan, and Assam.
Visitors attending this festival will also get to participate in action-packed activities, such as helicopter joy rides, paragliding, elephant safari, ethnic fashion show, ethnic food festival, seminars on eco-tourism, cultural nights by the invited artists and locals.
Apart from this, the Army will be hosting a cultural show; Krishna Mizar, Assam’s celebrated singer, will be entertaining the audience, and there will be other prominent personalities gracing the cultural night event. Also, the festival will witness a multilingual poets’ meet to enthrall the audience.
