Take a walk on the green side
Noteworthy for: Khalidiya houses some of the best independent Arab and Indian restaurants in the city. Lebanese Flower is a particular favourite with locals.
For Sheikhs and well-heeled Westerners, Khalidiya is the neighbourhood of choice, with its parks, tree-lined avenues and outdoor eateries. Only a short hop from the Corniche and the public beaches, there's also no shortage of high-end accommodation.
The area around Corniche Road is lined with lively little shisha cafes and in the evening the air fills with fragrant plumes of fruit-flavoured smoke. The neighbourhood is also well set-up for promenading and hidden parks and gardens offer respite from the heat.
